A Hat - A Straw Hat

A Hat - A Straw Hat (as read by William Shatner)

Imagine my surprise when I saw the hat,
The hat - a straw hat,
close to the rat,
up on the placemat.

My feet ran pitty-pat,
as the cat jumped at the rat,
and the hat - a straw hat,
went flying with a splat!

The moral is that,
a hat - a straw hat,
should not be set on a mat,
by a cat and a rat!

Anna and John LOVED this. They asked me to read it again and again.

Yes, but the question is...did you read it like William Shatner???? ;-)

Yes. The poem almost forces it upon one.

Hee-hee! Do you know why I wrote a poem about the hat - a straw hat?

Can't say I do. Because you're planning your trip back to sunny Texas, perhaps?

Sadly no, it's because your father left his hat here at our house a weekend or so ago and when he called to check upon it....well, it became a story...and I was compelled to write an ode to the hat. Right after I took this picture I then proceeded to eat the hat. It was delicious...and no, no ketchup!
